Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering is an important part of your commitment as a SRACS family. There are always opportunities to volunteer in the classroom, for school parties, on field trips as drivers or chaperones, or with the SFPO. The role of parent volunteers is to free the SRACS teachers to focus on the students and facilitate the educational experiences unique to our school. Volunteers play a crucial role in supporting our program. Every hour you spend volunteering makes a huge difference!

How to be a Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Santa Rosa Accelerated Charter School!
The SRSC District is using a Be a Mentor volunteer system, one that would require the potential volunteer to create an account and enter all of their own documents.
Please use THIS LINK to begin the process of setting up your own account and starting the process. Please keep in mind that simply creating an account does not qualify or clear you to begin volunteering. You will be guided by the system and receive “green lights” as you have completed each section.
The TB test is valid for 4 years from the date taken, the Mandated Reporter is a yearly course certificate.
Fingerprints are needed if you will be working alone with students, volunteering on a weekly basis, or driving and/or chaperoning children on field trips. This process can take 2-4 weeks. We are not able to share Fingerprinting if you’ve been previously fingerprinted elsewhere.
The whole process can take some time, so you are encouraged to start this process early.
We appreciate our volunteers and hope that you will find it a rewarding experience!
FAQ
Do parents need to register as volunteers?
If a parent is performing a volunteer role that is beyond the scope of working directly with their child, they are required to be registered as a volunteer.
Does every volunteer require fingerprint clearance?
Department of Justice fingerprint clearance (and in some cases, FBI clearance) is required of volunteers whose responsibilities may result in unsupervised work with students.
How long does it take to complete volunteer processing steps?
The entire process takes approximately 1-6 weeks. It depends on if the volunteer needs fingerprint clearance. Fingerprint results can take up to one month to come back from the DOJ and FBI, so it is recommended that schools and volunteers plan accordingly for any annual overnight field trips or projects requiring the clearance of volunteers.
Also, athletic volunteers have a number of additional clearances that they need to complete before they can coach.
Do I need to be fingerprinted if I am an employee of SRCS or a retired employee of SRCS?
If you are a current employee in our District, no additional fingerprints are required. In almost all cases retirees will need to be fingerprinted.
Do I need to be fingerprinted if I am a volunteer or employee of another government agency or outside organization?
Agencies are not allowed to share the confidential information , so you will need to be re-fingerprinted to volunteer with Santa Rosa City Schools.
How often do I need to get fingerprinted?
As long as you do not make a request to be removed from our volunteer list, your fingerprints will continue to remain active and you will not need to be re-fingerprinted.
